Downgrade from Davinci Resolve 16 to 15

Davinci Resolve has released version 16 and it adds a whole host of amazing new features for editors. This includes identifying people in clips, a fast cut page, and even object removal.

No surprise, people have rushed to upgrade and, in the process, and some of them have become stuck. They upgraded to version 16, which is still in Beta (test), without backing up the database. Then they find they can’t go back!

If you find yourself in that boat – Don’t Panic! This video will show you how you can bring a project back into Davinci Resolve 15 and save the day.

And, if you want to find out about their new facial recognition feature. Check this out.

  1. Hi!

We colored something in 16 but need to go back to finishing in 15 because of the stabilization issue. We tried to do what you suggested but we lost all the work we did. The project files are there but nothing is colored and we lost all nodes. Do you have any fixes for that? Thank you in advance!

    1. Hi Marty,

I don’t have an answer for that off the top of my head. But what issues are you having with stabilization? I have found the stabilizer on 16 to be better than 15 IMHO.

Do you still have 16 loaded? If so, and it is the image stabilizer you are interested in, you can try using it in the cut tab instead of the Edit tab. It should be the same but if you are having a problem using it then, you never know, that might work.

Let me know if I can help at all.
